Child Safety Matters
Child Safety Matters (CSM)
Empowering Kids with Confidence, Awareness, and a Voice
Children deserve more than protection—they deserve the tools to protect themselves. At ECHO, we deliver Child Safety Matters (CSM). This powerful, interactive program equips students with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to all types of abuse and danger.
Designed for Pre-K through 5th grade students, this evidence-based program uses real-world scenarios, age-appropriate language, and engaging activities to teach safety in a way kids can understand and apply.
What Children Learn
CSM helps children identify unsafe situations and understand their right to speak up. Topics include:
- Physical, emotional, and sexual abuse
- Neglect and unsafe environments
- Bullying and cyberbullying
- Digital safety and online boundaries
- How to ask for help from trusted adults
Through relatable lessons and activities, children learn five key safety rules they can use anytime:
- Know what’s up.
- Spot red flags.
- Make a move.
- Talk it up.
- No blame, no shame.
These rules are simple to remember, empowering kids to act with confidence.
Why It Matters
Too often, children remain silent out of fear, confusion, or lack of knowledge. CSM breaks that silence. It creates space for open conversations between children and adults, helping students feel heard and supported.
By integrating this program into the school day or community settings, we foster a generation that is not only protected—but prepared.
For Parents & Educators
CSM includes optional take-home materials and classroom supports, encouraging continued conversations at home. When kids, caregivers, and teachers are on the same page, prevention becomes a shared effort.
