SMART K.I.D.S.
(Keeping Identification Data Safe)
Simple Measures for a Safer Tomorrow
If your child ever goes missing, every second counts. The SMART K.I.D.S. initiative is a no-cost, proactive program that empowers families and organizations to take preventive safety measures—starting with fingerprinting.
What’s Included
This presentation teaches adults how to safely create, store, and use fingerprint identification records. Topics include:
- Why fingerprinting matters
- How to collect and store fingerprints safely
- Best practices for keeping information secure
- Apps and tools for digital storage
- Talking to children about safety without creating fear
We’ll also show you how to take part in ECHO’s fingerprinting events for children ages 3 and up.
Important: ECHO does not store or retain any fingerprint data. Families maintain full control over all records.
Who It’s For
- Parents and caregivers
- Daycare providers and early childhood educators
- Schools, churches, and youth-serving organizations
- Community safety advocates
This is a perfect program to include at school safety nights, community health fairs, or family engagement events.
Why It Matters
Fingerprinting is a one-time, high-impact step that can make a huge difference in a crisis. SMART K.I.D.S. provides the peace of mind that comes with being prepared—just in case.
