Teaching the Importance of Personal Safety (TIPS) is presented in the public and private schools of ECHO’s service area. Volunteers are trained in curricula that emphasizes personal safety and a child’s right to say no if they are put in an uncomfortable situation, in real life or online.
Students are engaged in a 45-minute interactive conversations that allow them to practice the skills they have learned. Information is then distributed to their teachers and parents about the program and information on how to continue the personal safety conversation at home.
